Art Rocket II: Colombian children's dreams have already traveled to space 🚀

On July 14, a Soyuz rocket lifted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome carrying the drawings and dreams of children from around the world, including Colombia. ACMA supported four workshops in Medellín and Bogotá alongside Funicancer, Hospital Infantil Concejo de Medellín, Make-A-Wish Colombia, and Fundación Dharma.

Art Rocket II is an international humanitarian project by the UNITY Charity Foundation, in which children’s drawings become part of the outer surface of a Soyuz rocket. The Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle lifted off successfully from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, carrying the Expedition 75 crew toward the International Space Station (ISS), and with it, a 43-square-meter artistic collage featuring drawings by children from 55 cities in Russia and 38 cities across eight other countries, including Colombia.

Our part in the mission

And we were part of that mission. From the Colombian Association of Women in Aerospace (ACMA), we brought four workshops to different parts of the country, accompanying girls and boys who learned about space and captured their dreams in drawings that are now traveling beyond Earth. Each of these was made possible by foundations that opened the doors of their home and their heart:

  • 🎨 Medellín, with Funicancer and Hospital Infantil Concejo de Medellín
  • 🎨 Bogotá, with Fundación Make-A-Wish Colombia and Fundación Dharma

Thank you to every foundation, every family, and every child who gave us their dream to carry into space. Thank you, UNITY Charity Foundation, for letting us dream big and helping make it real.
